Underwrap known as m-wrap from Mueller is a latex-free product. According to sources at Mueller, they've done investigations into skin irritations from taping. What they have learned is that skin irritations occur not from the pre-wrap itself but ratherfrom either a.) other products like sprays or ointments used while
taping or b.) occlusion of the skin that has not been cleansed can
result in a form of heat rash. This is itchy and often painful.
M-wrap is a polyester polyurethane foam, which is inert.
Preliminary repeated insult patch testing show no hypersensitivity in
humans to the foam. It is a petroleum product, so people can react to
this similar to neoprene, in rare cases.
